Emancipation, Juneteenth, and the 13th Amendment

Veteran journalist and political strategist, Delmarie Cobb, joins The Jesse Jackson Jr Show, as they discuss her publication from June 19, 2019, entitled “Why Juneteenth?” As promised, Jesse Jr continues the week of unpacking the history that we all need to know about the Juneteenth commemoration, and why it is not a celebration. Keeping in mind that this country is African-Americans in Texas remained slavery two years After the president signed The Executive Order that ended ownership of Black people in this country.It only goes to show the deception that was practiced as slavery came to an end, following a long Civil War. It is proof positive that the Civil War was indeed about slavery, and as within any history, it brings us to the present.
